Help Sheny Smile!
Sheny is a fun-loving 4-year old girl whose father works as a tradesman in construction and mom cares for her and two younger sisters. On a recent home visit to see the family, our Home Visitor noticed that Sheny was not smiling as confidently as her siblings. Her mother expressed concern about Sheny’s recent tooth pain.
Our Health Specialist arranged an emergency examination at the Stokes Dental Clinic. After the initial exam, Sheny was referred to Reid & Reid Pediatric Dentistry for a more comprehensive exam to determine an effective course of action.
Dr. Reid concluded that surgery is required due to her young age and the long duration of treatment Sheny will need. Some teeth will require extraction, while several more will require crowns, fillings, and pulpotomies. The need for treatment is extremely urgent, due to one tooth being abscessed.
Unfortunately, insurance does not cover a procedure this extensive, making cost a major barrier to the family being able to get the help she needs. Without the surgery, young Sheny will suffer long-term pain, trauma and damage to her permanent teeth.
