WNCSource provides senior nutrition programs and a variety of helpful resources to help older adults in Transylvania County stay healthy and enjoy their golden years. While we rely on private donations and community support to be able to offer these services, no one will be turned away based on their ability to contribute.

LunchPlus – Congregate Meals

LunchPlus Program: More Than Just a Meal!

Would you enjoy connecting with other seniors and joining in on fun, engaging activities? The LunchPlus program is here for you! Activities start at 9:30 AM and wrap up around noon with a hot, nutritious lunch served each day.

The LunchPlus Congregate Meals program is held at 2 locations:

Silvermont Senior Center – 364 E. Main St., Brevard NC – (828) 884 3166
Quebec Community Center – 11846 Rosman Hwy., Lake Toxaway NC – (828) 862-4466

Here’s a glimpse of what we offer:

  • Low-Impact Exercises: Chair yoga, walking, ring toss, corn hole, and other programs designed to improve strength and flexibility.
  • Group Activities: Bingo, arts and crafts, jigsaw puzzles, charades, and more!
  • Outdoor Adventures: Picnics, nature walks, and field trips.
  • Health & Wellness: Regular blood pressure checks and informative talks on nutrition, safety, and travel.
  • Entertainment: Enjoy performances by local musicians, movie mornings, and other special events.

Mobile Meals – Home-delivered meals

Mobile Meals delivers a mid-day meal, 5-days a week to homebound older adults living in the upper end of Transylvania County. The nutritious meals meet 1/3 of the recommended daily allowance for seniors and are delivered right to your door by cheerful volunteers.

Liquid Nutrition (Ensure/Glucerna)

Ensure/Glucerna liquid nutritional supplement products are available at a minimal cost to Transylvania County residents with documented medical needs. Medically frail adults over the age of 50 are also welcome to apply. A signed medical need statement from a healthcare professional is required. Funding is generously provided by Lake Toxaway Charities, Pisgah Health Foundation, Home and Community Care Block Grant, and other local donations.

Shelf-stable Meal Boxes

WNCSource offers shelf-stable meal boxes containing a 7-day supply of easy-to-prepare meals that offer additional nutrition for seniors. Funding provided by the Pisgah Health Foundation.

Who can join?

If you’re 60 or older and a resident of Transylvania County, you’re eligible to participate. For couples, as long as one partner meets the age requirement, both are welcome! Transportation options may also be available, depending on where you live in Transylvania County.

Mobile Meals Volunteers Needed!

Volunteers are needed to deliver Mobile Meals and supplies to homebound seniors in the Lake Toxaway, Quebec and Rosman areas of Transylvania County. Delivery routes leave from the Quebec Community Center around 10:45AM and take less than 2-hours to complete. WNCSource provides volunteers with food coolers, supplies and easy to follow directions. Just bring a smile! 

This is a great opportunity for husbands and wives, friends, and stay-at-home moms with young children. We’re looking for caring people who can volunteer once a week, once a month, or once in a while as a substitute. Every delivery gives you the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in someone’s day! It’s one of the most rewarding volunteer opportunities you’ll ever experience!
