Earn While You Learn a New Career!
WNCSource is partnering with Blue Ridge Community College to offer high school graduates and adult learners an Early Childhood Education apprenticeship opportunity to earn while they get qualified to educate and nurture our next generation of the very youngest learners, ages birth through age five. Apprentices work FULL TIME with EXCELLENT BENEFITS while in the program, getting paid while taking classes toward their Early Childhood Preschool or Infant/Toddler Care Certificate and gaining experience in our childcare centers at WNCSource.
The program takes one year to complete, Summer through Spring semesters. During that time, apprentices take five classes (a total of 16 credit hours) and work a total of 2,000 hours. Tuition is FREE, and apprentices get paid to attend classes. The first Summer semester, apprentices take EDU119, going to class four days a week, and working at WNCSource one day per week. The Fall and Spring semesters, apprentices complete the remaining four courses, going to class one day per week and working at WNCSource four days per week. The weeks between semesters, apprentices work at WNCSource five days per week.
For apprentices who wish to continue their education, the classes taken toward the Early Childhood Education Certificate count towards an Associates or Bachelor’s degree!
