WNCSource Celebrates 60 Years of Service to WNC!
WNCSource, headquartered in Hendersonville, NC, is celebrating its 60th Anniversary of serving families across Western North Carolina. Originally founded in 1966 as Western Carolina Community Action, WNCSource received its nonprofit status on March 10, 1966 and began offering programs in Henderson County including Head Start childcare, local employment transportation through a Work Mobile, and job training opportunities. 1966 was a notable year in American culture as well – The Beatles released Yellow Submarine, Super Bowl I was played, and Star Trek premiered on television.
Today, WCCA has been rebranded as WNCSource and serves more than 8,500 individuals each year across Henderson, Transylvania, Rutherford, and Polk Counties with programs focused on Early Childhood Education, Community Transportation, Housing, and Older Adult Services.
To commemorate the milestone, WNCSource will host two Diamond Jubilee celebrations later this summer in Henderson and Transylvania counties and invites the community to join in celebrating 60 years of service.
