Thanks to a 40th Anniversary grant from The Community Foundation of Henderson County, WNCSource is proud to announce the launch of its new CDA Pathways Training Program. This innovative program gives individuals interested in working with children the opportunity to gain the necessary schooling, on-the-job training, and exam preparation needed to obtain their Child Development Associate credential – all while getting paid!
WNCSource started the CDA Pathways Training Program in response to the nationwide childcare worker shortage that has left Henderson County and other communities without adequate care for children ages five and younger. As childcare centers close due to lack of staff, the entire economy is impacted because many parents (especially women) are unable to return to the workforce.
The $33,400 grant award will be used to sponsor two trainees through the CDA Pathways Training program, which provides paid training, hands-on classroom experience, tuition assistance, and mentoring support throughout the CDA exam and certification process. CDA graduates can continue their employment with WNCSource as teachers and/or support staff. For more information, visit our Careers page.
