WNCSource has been a leading provider of Head Start, Early Head Start and NC Pre-K programs in Henderson County for over 50 years. These programs provide free childcare and early childhood education services to children (age 0-5 yrs.) from economically disadvantaged families, foster care, and children with developmental disabilities.
In October 2020, WNCSource purchased the building and property at 911 Tebeau Drive in Hendersonville. The former Stay ‘n Play, Love ‘n Learning, and School for Little Folks (among other names) daycare facility was constructed in the 1950’s and had many additions over the years. It has served generations of Henderson County children!
WNCSource is working with architects, civil engineers, and contractors to make the necessary renovations to bring the 70-year old facility up-to-date with current State and local building codes and expand the space to 6,065 square feet that will include 8 classrooms, larger kitchen, ADA bathroom, and office space.
- Updated Plumbing and Electrical Systems
- New HVAC and ventilation system
- New windows and doors
- Replace flooring, carpeting and fresh paint throughout!
- Exterior grading, paving, and concrete for improved pick-up/drop-off areas, sidewalks and outdoor play areas
Once completed, the Tebeau Children’s Center will provide:
- 5 Early Head Start classrooms to care for up to 40 infants and toddlers (0-3 yrs. old)
- 3 Head Start and NC Pre-K classrooms to serve 54 children (3-5 yrs.)
- Services to pregnant mothers
We need your help!
In addition to purchasing the building and property, WNCSource has raised over $403,000 of the $825,000 in renovation costs needed to restore this beloved community landmark. We are actively seeking support from Federal, State, public and private foundations. Now we’re asking for help from WNC and our local community.
If you believe that all children, regardless of means should have access to high-quality early childhood education so they will be ready for school – You can help!
