Community Transportation Programs Help Connect Residents of All Ages
Welcome to the very first edition of The Source! Although this is our first newsletter, WNCSource (formerly Western Carolina Community Action has been around since 1966. Our mission is to work with communities and partners to improve people’s lives by creating pathways to self-reliance and healthier living. We do this by offering services in four key program areas:
- Head Start, Early Head Start, and NC Pre-K
- Community Transportation
- Affordable Housing
- Services for Older Adults
WNCSource is based in Hendersonville, NC and serves Henderson, Transylvania, Rutherford, and Polk counties.
As you read through the following pages, I think you’ll see how we’re working to accomplish that mission in the lives of our struggling neighbors every single day. WNCSource wants to empower people and transform lives in order to make our communities stronger! But we need your help!
Many people don’t realize that the funding for our work comes directly from the community and has a direct impact on the amount of grant support we receive from the federal government. For every $1 raised in private donations, foundation grants, and volunteer support, WNCSource brings in $5 in federal funding to invest in the programs that serve your community! Last year alone, WNCSource brought over $13,027,500 back into the economies of Henderson, Transylvania, Rutherford and Polk counties!
You have the opportunity to make an impact in the lives of your neighbors and the overall quality of life in your community!
If you know of someone who might benefit from our services, please reach out and let them know WNCSource is here to help!
If you believe that early childhood education, affordable housing, community transportation, and/or providing meaningful services to seniors is the pathway to independence and a healthier future, please consider volunteering or financially supporting our work.
